At Studio Folkert de Jong, each artwork is handled, packed and shipped with exceptional care. Many of the pieces offered in this webshop are handmade, unique or part of limited editions. Because of this, specific return conditions apply. Please read the information below to understand how returns and refunds are handled.
1. Right of Withdrawal (14-Day Cooling-Off Period)
For standard, non-unique products purchased through this webshop, you have the legal right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days without stating a reason.
The withdrawal period begins on the day you receive your order.
If you wish to exercise this right, please notify us by email within 14 days of delivery.
2. Items Excluded From Returns
Due to their nature, the following items cannot be returned:
Unique artworks
Original works, unique ceramics, sculptures, one-of-a-kind objects, or any individually created piece.
Signed or limited edition works
Numbered prints, editions, and signed pieces fall outside the standard return policy.
Commissioned or customised works
Art pieces made or altered specifically at the customer’s request.
Because these items are unique, fragile and often irreplaceable, they cannot be returned unless damage occurred during shipment.
If you would like to discuss your situation, please contact us — we will always do our best to help, but no rights can be derived from exceptions.
3. Condition of Accepted Returns
If a return is approved:
The artwork must be sent back in its original, undamaged condition
It must be securely packaged, ideally in the original packaging
Any decrease in value due to damage, wear or inadequate packaging may be deducted from the refund
Please note that the customer is responsible for the safe return of the artwork until it is received by us.
4. Damaged or Incorrect Items
If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please notify us within 48 hours of receiving the item at: folkert.dejong@yahoo.com
Please include:
Photos of the outer packaging
Photos of the damaged area(s)
A full image of the artwork
We will review the case and contact you with the next steps.
In the event of transport damage, we will handle the claim with the shipping carrier.
5. How to Request a Return
To initiate a return (for items that qualify), please email us with the following details:
Your full name
Order number
Title of the artwork
Reason for return (optional)
Photos, if applicable
Send your request to: folkert.dejong@yahoo.com
You will then receive instructions for packing and shipping the return.
6. Return Shipping Costs
Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise agreed.
We strongly recommend using a tracked and insured shipping service, especially for valuable or fragile works.
Original shipping costs are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error.
7. Inspection of Returned Items
After we receive your returned item, it will be inspected to confirm its condition.
You will receive an email notification informing you whether:
The return is accepted
A partial refund applies due to damage or wear
The return cannot be accepted (in exceptional cases)
8. Refunds
If approved, your refund will be processed within 14 days using the original method of payment.
Please note that:
Refunds may take additional time depending on your bank or credit card provider
We cannot issue refunds for items that fall under the exclusions listed in section 2
